With her single, “F Lovin U,” out now, we took some time to hear more from KELIZA. Read below to learn more about KELIZA, the story behind her single, and what’s to come.

Hi KELIZA! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?

So, I’ve always enjoyed gaming, primarily on a PlayStation console. My PSN is kelizabethbx3, which is a mixture of my first, middle, and last name. Many of my friends would call me kelizabeth, so I adopted the “Keliza” part of it as my artist name.

What city are you from and where are you based now?

I originally lived in Mansfield, Ohio, but I have resided in Las Vegas, Nevada since the age of 5.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

Music has always played a huge part in my life. I’ve been singing since I was very young. I decided to start making my own music back in 2019 when I was in search of an outlet to channel my emotions into.

Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?

Yes, my entire family loves music. I have a sister with an amazing voice as well. Growing up, I often felt compared to my sister, being the younger sibling. I had many feelings of never being as good or never measuring up, which I’m sure many artists can relate to having those thoughts — as you can find yourself feeling that way just from comparing yourself to other artists in the industry. These thoughts became overwhelming and turned me away from creating. I sort of fell away from music after graduating high school. In 2019, I decided to find myself in music again and my own sound that I could feel confident in. It’s an every day battle, and I’m still learning my true sound and what resonates with my soul. However, my love for music keeps me pushing.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

This question is always one that gets me. I don’t have a specific description for my sound. I’ve always been someone who hates rules. Many people in the industry will tell you to stick to one sound, but I like to dabble in many styles of music. For me, it isn’t about the business side of things. I’m creating because I love to create, and if I didn’t push the boundaries of having only “one sound,” then it would take the fun out of creating for me.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

Yes, I am a licensed makeup artist here in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’ve always loved the endless possibilities of creating with makeup. I am also a self-taught nail tech, but I’d love to go back to school for nails one day as well.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

I honestly hop from genre to genre so quickly its hard to pinpoint specifics that influence me, which is probably why “F Lovin U” gives Alternative Electropop, but also Hip-Hop sort of vibes. Although, currently a few artists that I’ve enjoyed listening to are Alina Baraz, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo.

What are some of your future music career goals?

My main goal is to just share music with the world that resonates with others. To share my story and my emotions, and allow others to feel those emotions with me. I honestly hate the idea of being in the spotlight, so I’m just going with the flow of my music and allowing it to take me wherever it leads. But most importantly, enjoying each phase of the process.

Now onto your release, “F Lovin U.” What inspired this song?

This song was inspired by a very toxic relationship that I was in for quite a few years. It represents the anger phase of healing that you go through after getting out of a bad relationship.

What is “F Lovin U” about in your own words?

“F Lovin U” is me taking a stand, realizing that I’ve been giving my time to the wrong person. That I don’t need to sit around waiting for love from someone. It’s me taking my power back, putting myself back in control, and saying f*ck that, f*ck loving you, I deserve better.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from “F Lovin U?”

Overall, I hope my music can send a message to my fans that they’re not alone in these situations. I hope “F Lovin U” empowers people to know their worth and the value of their love, so that they no longer waste it on undeserving individuals.

What’s one of your proudest moments of your music career so far?

My proudest moment was the release of my first single, “F Lovin U.” I put it off for years because I would on and off lose confidence in my music. So, to finally follow through and release it to the world was a very proud moment for me.

What would you say are the greatest lessons you’ve learned so far?

I would say the biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that not everyone in this industry is your friend, no matter how kind they may seem. Often people are looking to gain something rather than make genuine connections. I am not someone who is interested in surface level friendships, so it’s important to be careful on who you allow into your life.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects that we should be on the lookout for?

I just dropped a collaboration with Hubstcy; it released December 1st. You should definitely check that one out! I also have a collaboration dropping with Las Vegas artist, Chris Ivan. The song is called “Help Me,” and it’ll be out on all streaming platforms in January 2022.
