Los Angeles, CA (Medium) 06/26/2023 — As the trend of sampling classics grows in popularity, brothers Trap Pap and SPL Haiti teamed up for the captivating, invigorating “Counter That.” A fresh take on “Regulate” by Warren G and Nate Dogg, “Counter That” joins the well-received “Street Language (Got A Lot)” and “Back In The Mix” on Trap Pap’s discography — also preceding “Best Yet” and “Num Talkin Bout” in his chronology of singles. Fusing elements of both old school and contemporary Hip-Hop music, “Counter That” oozes with energy, charisma, and confidence.

Despite the mainstream focus of Trap Pap’s music, it’s easy to spot the 90s and 2000s influences in his sound. He cites an impressive range of rappers, including Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Moneybagg Yo, and Lil Baby, as artistic influences. True to his stage name, Trap Pap usually raps against driven, fast-paced Trap beats with plentiful elements of Electronic and Dubstep music. Trap Pap has previously been praised as “Rap’s newest star” who is “coming to take over the game.”
